Founded in 1980 by Kevin Burnett

C&K Scaffolding Limited was founded in 1980 by Kevin Burnett, and it is still run by the Burnett family today. The business became C&K Scaffolding Limited in 2010, and over more than four decades our reputation has been built one scaffold at a time, keeping builders, tradespeople and homeowners safe at height.

C&K Scaffolding Limited is a close family unit that works together seamlessly in order to provide safety systems and scaffold solutions to both the domestic and commercial sectors. From a single chimney stack to a whole new build development, the same family team plans, puts up and takes down every scaffold.

Built To Be Safe

Anatomy of a Safe Scaffold

Designed, erected and inspected by our own qualified team, and checked at least once every seven days while it stands. Below is one of our own scaffolds: choose a number on the photograph, or a part in the list, to see what each part does.

Part By Part
01

Sole Boards and Base Plates

Timber sole boards and steel base plates spread the weight of each standard, so the scaffold stands steady on the ground.

  1. Timber sole boards and steel base plates spread the weight of each standard, so the scaffold stands steady on the ground.

  2. The upright tubes that carry the weight of the scaffold down to the ground.

  3. Horizontal tubes running the length of the scaffold, joining the standards at every lift.

  4. Tubes across the width of the scaffold that sit on the ledgers and carry the boards.

  5. Timber boards laid over the transoms to make a solid, level working platform.

  6. A board on edge along the platform, so tools and materials cannot be kicked off.

  7. Rails along the open edge of every working platform, to stop anyone falling.

  8. Diagonal tubes that stiffen the scaffold and stop it swaying or leaning.

  9. A temporary staircase, giving safe access up to the working lifts.

  10. Mesh panels between the toe board and the guard rail, so nothing on the platform can fall.

What Our Clients Say

“I have used C & K twice now, for scaffolding in areas used by the public (e.g. Petersfield High Street). Both times Colin and the team were careful, safe, professional and a pleasure to have around. The team listened to understand what the job was and what we wished to achieve so that they could position the scaffolding in the best way. Highly recommended.”
